Parking

Parking is $10/day in the 7-level Anteater Parking Structure, located near the corner of East Peltason Dr. and Anteater Dr., Irvine, CA 92697, a three minute walk from the Engineering quad. Parking permits must be displayed on your dashboard. There is a parking kiosk with an attendant 8:00am-noon Saturday, and 8:00am-noon Sunday; and a permit vending machine for late arrivals.

Parking Structure

The permit dispenser at the parking structure entrance is available at all times and accepts major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and cash ($1, $5 & $10, exact payment required, gives no change or refunds).

Purchase your permit and display it on your dashboard. Parking enforcement is 24x7, and while the campus could use the money you'll pay for a parking ticket, it's a lot cheaper to pay for the daily permit.

If you didn't see a parking kiosk when you entered the parking structure, you probably came in the back (ground level) entrance (no, you didn't sneak in for free). Go up to the 3rd level to find the kiosk and buy a parking permit; or, take the ground-level exit and go left, turn left at the Engineering Service Rd, left onto E. Peltason Dr., and left at Anteater Dr. to re-enter at the kiosk entrance.

Display your permit on your dashboard and park in any unmarked space. General parking is plentiful on the upper and lower levels of the parking structure. If you have an electric vehicle, there are ChargePoint charging stations on level 1 (with a 4-hour limit, and yes they will ticket for the 4-hour violation so move your car once it's full).

UC attendees: there is permit reciprocity for parking permits from other UC campuses.

Directions to the Engineering quad (Drupal Camp Registration)

Walk toward the elevator at the southwest corner of the lot (at the end of the leftmost aisle as you first drive in). Go downstairs to level 2 and walk out onto the adjacent building plaza to your left, then out to the sidewalk along the main road (Peltason Dr.). Go right, cross the Engineering Service Rd. and continue along the sidewalk past the Henry Samueli School of Engineering monument sign. Go right at the crosswalk and down the large stairs to the Engineering quad (walking time: 3 minutes).

Metrolink/Bus service

Weekend Metrolink service and OCTA bus service are limited. The Tustin Metrolink station on the Orange County Line is the nearest train station to UC Irvine. OCTA bus fare is $2/ride with no transfers and exact change is required ($1 bills or coins $0.05 and up). A one-day pass is $5, which may save you money if you need to ride multiple buses or are planning a round-trip. You can walk from the Tustin Metrolink station to Culver and Irvine Center Dr (about 20 minutes). From there you can catch Bus 79 which goes to UCI.

From the Irvine Spectrum shopping center, you’ll take Bus 90 to Bus 79 to UCI. From the Irvine Metrolink station (in the Irvine Spectrum area) you’ll have to walk about 25 minutes to first catch Bus 90.

From LA, Google Transit has info for OCTA and Metrolink, so you can use that to plan a route.

Air

The UC Irvine campus is about 4 miles from Orange County John Wayne Airport (SNA).

OCTA can get you to UCI with a fair bit of walking. However, OCTA service is limited on the weekend, so taking a taxi to the campus will save you a lot of time.

If you going to be staying in the area, several local hotels provide a shuttle to/from the airport, and to/from UCI.
