Backbone Explained (JavaScript library bundled with D8)

Drupal 8 is bundled with Backbone: a JavaScript framework/library that "gives structure to web applications by providing models with key-value binding and custom events, collections with a rich API of enumerable functions, views with declarative event handling, and connects it all to your existing API over a RESTful JSON interface."

I'll go through, explain and provide code examples for methods in each of its main areas.
